Can you tell us about your role at Preqin?
I am the Interim Head of Global Sales Development at Preqin. I oversee a team of Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) to ensure that we’re driving revenue growth and forging new business partnerships within the sales organization. A key part of my role is leading global sales initiatives, providing the team with the resources they need to thrive, and being fully dedicated to motivating and guiding the SDRs across the globe.
What do you like best about having a career in sales?
I like the fact that there’s a direct correlation between effort and reward. Sales is a field where hard work and dedication translates into tangible results and, ultimately, success.
The other element I enjoy, now that I’m in a leadership role, is managing a team and the added layer of satisfaction that brings. I take a lot of pride in being able to mentor and develop my team, in helping them fulfill their potential. This motivates me every day.
How has your career progressed during your time at Preqin?
My Preqin journey began at the SDR level and, after demonstrating success, I quickly moved up to take on a senior SDR role, which is where I was able to develop my leadership skills. I learned a lot from my manager, who was always happy to help and guide me, about what it takes to lead a team. That’s a real core strength of the sales team at Preqin, we have great people who can help you learn and develop in your career.
I then decided to take the management route, taking on the Americas region within sales. And since, I've had the privilege of being made the Interim Global Head of Sales Development.
What’s the culture like in the New York office?
It has an engaging and hard-working atmosphere. Everyone has a strong work ethic, but it’s also ‘work hard, play hard’. Within that strong group work ethic, I'd say that the collaborative nature of the teams in the New York office stands out. It’s an open environment where you’re encouraged to ask questions and share knowledge. There’s definitely a culture of learning.
But it’s not just about work and knowing each other as colleagues. We all make the effort to spend time together outside of work to get to know each other better. That human connection is important.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m very involved in my church community and that gives me the opportunity to volunteer and help other communities around New York City. It’s definitely a fulfilling and satisfying experience.
As a former college football player, it’s important to me to stay active. So, I play a range of sports now such as basketball, pickleball, golf, and more – the list is very long!
